For Sale: Life-Size Gentle Giant Leia Statue

Hey everyone.  Spotted this on Craigslist.  It would be pretty cool to have one of these in your living-room am I right?

They are asking $1,500.  (They made 500 of these and this is number 71)

Check it out here!

Merchandise Sightings: In Chattanooga, TN

Josh from Paradigm Thrift spotted a couple things in a antique store that someone might be interested in:
Some retro action figures.  Telescoping lightsaber Obi-Wan... They look a bit pricey considering they are loose and missing their guns...but some of you guys would know better than me.

Looks like a porcelain darth vader bank for $95

I have no idea what this is.  A trash can?
All of these things were spotted at:

Another huge collection for sale

Someone sent me this from Craigslist:

It's a huge collection and they are asking $35,000 for it.  Supposedly the collection was appraised at more than $120,000.  Collection is in TX I think.

Might be worth finding out if he would sell single items.

ASWCC Third Meeting

The third meeting was held on Monday, December 3rd at the East Cobb Library.  We had a couple new faces join us this time which was pretty cool.  Matt brought in his new  copy of The Ultimate Action Figure Collection and passed it around for everyone to look at.  It is  pretty sweet book.  You can open the book randomly and see that they have made two pages of jawas for instance.

We also talked about the following:
The Clone Wars, The Mortis Trilogy, The Fate of the Jedi Series, Star Wars Celebration over the years (we had a new member that has gone to all of them including the first one!) ebooks, the eBay Collection currently for sale, the 501st, etc.

As you can see, although we have a lot of toy collectors in the club but we don't only talk about toys. The Star Wars franchise is vast, and people collect lots of things.  Come tell us about what you collect!

Last we began a discussion about where and when to have the next meeting.

We've decided to switch to Sunday afternoons before dinner time, as we have had several people say they would like to come but are unable on Monday nights.  So the next meeting will be on January 13, 2013.  4:00 pm - 5:00 pm.   We are working on finding a new location, and will probably be meeting up in the Cobb Galleria area.

eBay Collection to benefit Rancho Obi-Wan

To celebrate the publication of the most comprehensive Star Wars action figure book ever, and the one-year anniversary of the nonprofit Star Wars museum at Rancho Obi-Wan (ROW), we are offering what we believe is the largest single collection of unique Star Wars action figures ever made available on eBay.
This amazing auction includes a huge lot of 1,950 different loose action figures collected over decades--starting with the vintage line in 1978--and representing over 85% of the figures documented in the new book Star Wars: The Ultimate Action Figure Collection.
The auction proceeds will benefit Rancho Obi-Wan, a 501(c)(3) organization. The figures have been donated by one-time ILM model maker Fon Davis of FonCo Creative Services, Lagunitas, CA.
Nearly every figure was removed from the packaging only to be lovingly displayed in locked cases. All figures are in very good to excellent condition with most original accessories. Detailed descriptions of vintage figures are below. This collection has been appraised at a minimum value of $8,200 by Pete Vilmur, collecting expert and co-author of four Star Wars books.
"This incredible collection of nearly every Star Wars action figure ever produced is the largest group of figures I've seen offered in a single lot," Vilmur said. "Based on the sharp condition and completeness of this collection (100% of the 1978-85 series is here, and nearly every subsequent figure produced to early 2011), I'd appraise this set at a minimum $8,200 to $8,500. There is minor wear on some of the vintage figures (as is typical around the edges of the feet) while all modern figures appear fresh off the card. All vintage accessories are accounted for unless otherwise indicated and are believed to be authentic."

Hope you have plenty of cash.  There are 27 bids already and up to $5,300 already!

Update: Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of the Ebay page.  There are a ton of awesome photos.  Also the bid is now up to $7,100

Up for Grabs

My book collection is huge, and occasionally I pick up a book I already have.  Here are two books that are up for grabs:

PlanetOfTwilight.jpg

This is the Science Fiction Book Club edition of this book, so it is slightly smaller than a regular hardback edition.  It is in great shape.

Also,

Regular hardcover edition, also in great shape.

Up for Grabs

I accidentally acquired a second copy of Star Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels for the Wii.  Its the one where you wave around the wii-mote like your lightsaber.  Anybody interested in a copy?

ASWCC Second Meeting

The second meeting was held on Monday, November 5th at the East Cobb Library.  We discussed the Disney/Lucasfilm merger and how it would affect future action figures and merchandising, as well as the Expanded Universe.

We wonder whether meeting on a different day of the week or at a different time would make it easier for people to make it to the meetings.  Any thoughts?  Feel free comment below about your schedule.

Also, please tell your friends about the club!  Who else could commiserate with you on how difficult it is to find spare parts to your Millenium Falcon figure?  Even if you are not a collector, it is fun to get together as Star Wars fans to discuss the latest toy releases, books, comics, Clone Wars episodes, massive buyout of Lucasfilm, etc. etc.

For Sale

Matt noticed that someone in Georgia is selling his Clone Trooper armor on CraigsList.  Supposedly it is 501st approved, but I have always heard that you buy at your own risk from non-vendors.  Here is the link with the information:

Merchandise Sightings

Original A New Hope Poster at the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Alpharetta Highway.  Still in cardboard and sealed up but some wear and tear around the bottom it looked like.  I think it was $19.99 I think... so probably not that good of a deal:

Merchandise Sightings

I was at the Goodwill on Mount Vernon Road in Sandy Springs, and I spotted a LEGO MTT-set.  The box was open, but all of the LEGO pieces are still sealed in their bags.  It cost around $100 from what I recall, and it was kept behind the counter with the more expensive items.  Pretty awesome, but I don't collect the LEGOs.

I was at B&R Thrift on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs and spotted a couple of items:
Star Wars Creepy Crawler Oven.  It looked like it was in decent shape.

There was also a toy Darth Vader lightsaber, that looked something like this, for about $2:

Then, there was also a child's Darth Vader mask that looked something like this:

Today I was able to pick up, for my own collection:

Battlefront I for the PS2
Battlefront II for Xbox
Pit Droids for PC
Galaxies Expansion I for PC
Lego Star Wars for GameCube
Rebel Strike GameCube

and a handful of books, including a coloring book, two game guides, and Anakin: Space Pilot with 3D glasses.

I did not find all of these things at one store-- I hit up several Goodwills, Salvation Army stores, and other thrift stores on Roswell Road from Sandy Springs on up into Roswell/Alpharetta.

I only spent about $35!  I regularly go on thrifting expeditions with my good buddy Joshua Mullinax at Paradigm Thrift.  He has amazing thrifting skills and luck.

Club Founded as Greater Atlanta Star Wars Collectors Club!

Meeting 1 was a success. Despite lots of rain, Atlanta traffic, and road construction a few of us made it out to the East Cobb Public Library and kicked off the club!

After founding the club we have discovered that there was already an Atlanta Star Wars Collectors Club.  After talking with the Damien aka Darth Omen or the "Supreme Chancellor  or the ASWCC we have decided to merge clubs.  We will have this new Website, but keep the ASWCC name and keep the ASWCC Facebook page.

We are proud to join forces!
